The Unshakable Character…

23 Apr

I’ve been listening to the audio-book “Cultivating the Unshakable Character”  by Jim Rohn.  Did you know that the word ‘character’ originated from a word meaning ‘chisel’ or ‘the mark left by a chisel’.  Interesting.

The other point Rohn brings up is the difference between ‘character’ and ‘charisma’.   Charisma is the ability to dazzle people and get emotional responses from them.  Character has more to do with the mundane things in life;  the things you do each day, and the person you are.

I’ve never thought of success in this way.  It really is the sum of the many small things we decide to do and not to do that leads to our eventual success or failure.   When you get the proper perspective, you realize that you can do it.  It’s as simple as choosing an apple over a piece of candy, or choosing to do the small task or to put it off until tomorrow.  The sum of those little decisions, compounded over time, are very significant!

I can’t wait to see where this new curve of decision making will take me a year from now.
